Harry Bosch number 6, I do enjoy this series. Just enough to make me a little stressed for the main character, but he always gets out of it.
Where we learn Bosch might have a mobile phone but he still uses a typewriter and there's a thing called the internet. It's fancy! OK, I shouldn't make fun - I am younger than Bosch but I am still old enough to recall life without all these devices -but it it humorous to go back in time and read books that explain this new-fangled technology.
Setting aside all this, the book is excellent. It's a great mystery that requires Bosch's trademark tenacity to wade through the evidence while dodging the political machinations of those in charge.

My favorite of the Harry Bosch books...eloquent and elegiac
Angels Flight is a historic landmark in LA. The two trolley cars even have pet names. But the nostalgic tram system becomes historic for another reason, a high profile murder.
When Harry Bosch is called in the middle of the night by Deputy Chief Irving to come out to the crime scene he is surprised. Angels Flight is not part of the Hollywood division and Harry is immediately aware that the case will be very unique and probably very political. He soon discovers that is the case when he arrives on scene. One of the victims is a high profile lawyer that is famous for suing the LAPD. So not only does most of the police department become suspects, the minority community that the victim championed will be outraged by the murder. The potential to relive the riots of 1992 is highly likely if the case is not handled correctly.
Harry must maneuver the politics and racial tensions to find the truth. He will get to the bottom of it no matter what the implications and repercussions.
This is another excellent mystery/thriller by Connelly. Highly recommend this series to all genre fans.

Hieronymus Bosch at his best. Powerful theme, believable and entertaining from start to finish.

Harry and his team are tasked with investigating the death of a high profile attorney known for suing the Los Angeles Police Department. The investigation is fraught with politics and misdirection.
This is the first Harry Bosch book that did not end satisfactorily. We do find out who did the crime ultimately, but whether justice prevailed is questionable. But it was a typical Connelly gripping story with lots of twists and turns.

A prominent attorney is killed (along with a bystander) on the tiny two-car funicular railway in Los Angeles. I liked this one. (And I've ridden Angel's Flight! And I appreciated the bit about the history of the Bradbury Building.)
