Cute, endearing insta-love with the Frenchman. Low drama for the most part, and even the conflicts are fairly easily resolved.

This was okay. The steamy scenes were pretty good. But the FMC was seriously freaking annoying. I thought she was incredibly stupid, and I really didn't enjoy being in her head.

So, I had this one on my kindle for ages because it actually was somewhat recommended by a reader I share strong opinions with – but we don’t tend to agree on the milder reviews, as far as I had gathered. For her to strongly recommend this one had me immediately putting it on the tbr and then pretty much forgetting about it until I scoured the depths of my “unread ebooks” list on my kindle the other day. Picked it up, got dragged into it fairly quickly an finished 85% of it within a day, the final 15% the morning after.

I’d say, the first 80% of the book I would totally agree with the original reviewer that it’s a great romance, it has tons of well-written spice and for me it was truly entertaining to witness these two characters brave the current of their own decisions together. However, it completely lost me in the final part. I hate third act breakups, I hated the reasoning for theirs and there’s one little keyword I will not tolerate in any of my romance books and that’s infidelity. True, the MMC was not in fact, unfaithful to the main female character, but I don’t trust people and character who have been unfaithful in the past, whatever their reasoning might be. It’s just this hard limit for me that I don’t want to be confronted with while escaping reality by means of a romance book.

So … first 80%: fun, spicy, a little awkward at times but that was bearable, the cute depiction of a summer in Europe through an American lens, I guess. 4 out of 5 stars.

The rest – not for me. That’s okay. 1 out of 5.

Averaging out at a strong 3 for me.

Very smutty. Enjoyed the setting off Paris and a very fun meet cute. Will read anything by Christina Lauren, but not sure I was completely rooting for this couple.
