i have never read anything more perfect in my entire life. i read this book over eight days ago and i still am not quite sure i have found the right words for how much i enjoyed this beautiful, heart wrenching story.

as one of my besties said, i have never met a jude in a book that hasn’t suffered which is such a true statement. our jude alcott suffers more than most when he meets a rude, obnoxious, snob of a boy while working with his sisters boyfriend’s gardening company, instant dislike between both boys causes some awkward interactions that has jude questioning many things about himself and his feelings around caspien deveraux.

i really enjoyed the childhood enemies - friends - strangers - lovers, i feel like you grown with them when stories are written this way and it just makes everything feel way more intense and deep. scarlett drake has such a beautiful way of writing and i have said it before, she makes you feel like you are reading someone’s personal diary entry or into their deepest thoughts and it is just mesmerising to read. effortlessly stunning and I will never hesitate to read another scarlett drake book again.

Hard to follow at times. Would start on a day but flash back to two days before, then keep going or flashback within a flashback, wouldn’t know when the story was returning to “current.” The narrator for the audio was really fantastic though, made it worth continuing to the end.

This was undoubtedly a beautiful book. Well written, and the length never felt drawn out or unnecessarily overwritten. This book took its time and made its emotional connection.
but i just cant get over the kind of miscommunication trope that this book and many others have. Caspien pushed Jude away for quite literally 8 years, hurting him and destroying him so much and why? Because being with him wouldve have hurt and destroyed him?! Like?! Give my man a simple text and explain why youre doing what you are?!
