Another hit by Jae!

I really enjoyed reading this one. Took me only two nights to read the whole thing.

Basically, this is pretty much a feel good romance story. Jordan is the surgeon/player who lives in a duplex, and Emma is the single mom to a 5-6 years old daughter, who moved in next door. I'll admit that this type of story is nothing new. However, Jae is so good at writing characters and making it easy for readers to connect with the characters. The romance aspect is slow burning and I enjoyed anticipating the progress of their relationship. Molly, Emma's daughter, is such a cuteball! I like how Molly is being used as obstacle and catalyst that help them get together at the same time. Only thing I think Jae could've improved on is conflict. Yes, there are some minor conflicts with Chloe, Emma's ex, and Jordan's "dates" but they all easily got resolved.

Overall, it is a solid romance, and light read. If you are a fan of Jae, then you will know what to expect out of this one. If you haven't read any of her stories, then this is a good book to start with.

Jae always writes great fiction with this one being no exception. Surgeon Jordan seems to be a little flashy with a string of women but a kind and caring heart. When divorced mother Emma moves in next door she wants to steer clear but an attraction keeps bringing them together.
Definitely enjoyable

Jae is one of my favourite lesbian authors. I have read a good number of her books and enjoyed most of them specially Under a falling star and Heart trouble. Maybe I set the bar too high when it comes to Jae's books but unfortunately, Falling hard disappointed me a bit.

The story revolves around Jordan, an African American surgeon and Molly, a white virtual assistant and mother of a five year old girl. The plot can be found in many books: a womaniser (Jordan) meets a woman looking for a committed relationship (Molly). The reader can more or less guess what happens as this is labelled a romance book. There's nothing wrong with that as it's not much about the destination but the journey to get there.

My main issue with this book is how the author deals with the tension in the plot, mainly the sexual tension. I felt the tension building was ok until approximately half of the book when it starts to drag and some situations seem unrealistic. That diminished my enjoyment and consequently dropped my rating. However, the characters are multilayered, the supporting cast is ok and the description of the 5 year old girl is spot on (I have a son that age).

Despite my criticism, it is an entertaining read, specially if you don't get too frustrated with the prolonged characters' hesitation and insecurities. Overall 3.5 stars rounded to 4.

*I received an ARC from Ylva for an honest review*

I really enjoyed Falling Hard as a companion to Jae's previous novel Heart Trouble. I loved getting to see Hope and Laleh again and seeing Jordan fall in love. There were some moments that were a bit cliched and lots of kissing that I could have done without, but I really enjoyed reading it. The hate past few books I've read dealt with heavy topics and themes so this was a nice, easy and fun read with a good romance. This is only the second book of Jae's that I've read but I'm definitely going to pick up her other books. She's a very skilled writer. 4.25 out of 5 stars.

Cute feel good book, not a lot of actual conflict if you’re the type that wants drama. Everything just seemed to start falling (pun intended) into place. Liked it, but Heart Trouble was leagues more interesting definitely.
