This is my first time reading an angels and demons trope and I must say I’m hooked!
The magical system and they way Allie implemented certain ethereal aspects enchanted me. It was also enjoyable to read the irony of a demon in Heavens Gates.
This book kept me turning pages and by the time I finished, I immediately had to read book 2!

This book was honestly so entertaining! The banter was top notch comedy and the plot was solid. There was enough tension, twists and drama to really keep you locked in. Angels, Demons + Magic Wielders so the fight scenes were perfection and the spice was SMOKIN' HOT.
Graphic: Torture, Cursing, Death, Sexual content, and Violence
Moderate: Gore

Too slow, at 86 pages in I wasn’t invested. It could be good, but I don’t want to wait.

Angels and demons working together, oh my!
Sort of world ending ideas right here when demons and angels come together, but it's actually far from that.
Living Legend may involve supernatural beings, but it is a world immersed in very contemporary ideas.
Nick and Reese are sentry angels who guide souls to heaven. They also train as warriors since they guard the gate, but they have never had a need to use their actual skills.
Dani and Elise are demons basically the opposite of the angels working in purgatory and you can just imagine what their jobs entail on the flipside.
When Dani is summoned to heaven to help the angels she brings her best friend along and Elise sparing with Nick's bestie, Reese, through the entire book is a lot of great comic relief. Could Nick and Dani have cut through a lot of things without those two going at it constantly, maybe, but there is a reason why someone has a bestie in every book.
For the most part, the storyline was great, but for me personally, the writing was very over-the-top descriptive, which bogs down getting from point A to point B. This is truly my own perspective, since my mind wanders with too much time in between one spoken sentence until the next one. Especially when it's one or two pages in between. Other than that, I liked the variation on angels working together and having the female demon with all the sinful sass.
