Fyodor Dostoevsky

3.95 AVERAGE

one of the most devastating books about love i’ve ever read. this was my first dostoevsky book, and it left me just pondering at the wall, thinking about it. it says so much about how easily our minds create an image of what we desire and how quickly that image can change. the book is pretty short, but it still left me with that bittersweet feeling:').

what really pulled me in wasn’t the plot or the love story but the way dostoevsky writes and builds his characters, how deeply and convincingly the main character was written. maybe i just related to him too much, like when he described his lonely, monotonous life, i felt that.

but i'd say the writing is a bit dense, but if you take your time with it, everything fits together logically. but, if you rush through, it might feel overcomplicated, you might not fully catch what the book is trying to say. but if you’re used to reading old classics, you’ll probably be familiar with this style.

Fyodor depicts the emotions so well I got teary eyed when he was describing the dreamer a few too many times
