Beauvoir makes many interesting statements, but this book was written in 1940s and it sadly shows. Many statements are just wrong and also make the position of women worse. Still, I think that this was a revolutionary book when it was written, and I appreciate it as a classical work. I annotated it heavily and I hope that I can sometime write something out of my annotations. As a whole, the book was mediocre but it provoked many thoughts and questions.
Book 10 of RGC. This book included history and the role of woman throughout the ages, as well as psychological, emotional, and physical insights of the female sex.
a must read for every woman or not. Actually a must read for everyone
Ran out of time and had to return it to Library. Also, I realized that I need to write down note and underline sentences, meaning I need my own copy.
Wow. Radical, but so enlightening. The key message from this book is that for equality to happen, men and women need to be peers, and that gender is a social construct.
What society has led us to believe is engrained is so, but engrained by a patriarchy that ‘shackles’ us.
Honestly, it blew my mind on what a lot of modern feminism believes to be ‘claiming as our own’ - our sexuality, our minds, and our bodies.
I would definitely recommend as it offers radical yet balanced outcomes. Man should not fuck with woman.

Wonderful. Well-written and insightful without being sanctimonious. Should be required reading.
I'm only reading the introductions and conclusion for one of my classes right now, but I may pick it up later. Extremely well written and makes fantastic points.
