I love the TV show. It is quirky and light without being stupid. Castle is a cad with a heart of gold and I love his relationship to his daughter. The character of Castle makes the series and I felt like I was reading something he would have written. This book was probably written by the same people who created Castles dialogue, so it's no wonder it sounds like it came from his brain. They have done a great job tying the book into the series.

However, the book itself isn't very good. Don't buy it unless you're a fan of the show...you would be missing the flavor that makes it a good show. The book assumes you know the characters and relationships. There is little description, little exposition...it's a TV episode in book form, and the writers assume you can 'see' a lot of things they don't bother to write.

On my soapbox: This is just another way to squeeze money out of the American public...and we're buying it. Given the book on it's own - it would flop; instead, it's a TV tie in and so it sells. We're buying crap just because it's there for us to buy...it hurts my head to think about it too much. (I got my book as a birthday gift, I don't think I would have bought it myself...but then again, maybe I would have. I'm a sucker for books and Castle. But really, what a waste.)

The story is an okay part of the Castle-universe. It's fun to read Castle's interpretation of his NYPD homicide team and the references from and toward the tvshow made me smile throughout the book. I'd describe it as a Castle episode through the eyes of Castle himself. However, if you started reading this book for any other reason than the promotion it received in the tvshow, you shouldn't bother reading it because it'll be terrible!

Definitely feeling the book and intrigued to learn more about the characters and the relationship between the two.

Bad grammar. The story didn't flow well and jumped all over the place. Very poorly written. Even the characterization wasn't all that great. The think I did like about it though was that it reminded me so much of the TV show and the puns that Kate and Castle have. I t made me laugh. Other than that it was only ok.

I enjoy watching the characters interact on the TV show Castle, and the original book is always better than the film version, right? Wrong! Someone at ABC had a very good eye for a story to be able to transform the dull cardboard characters in this book into the verbally sparring duo of Castle and Beckett. The repartee here is stilted and as false as a politician's smile. I'd give it one star if it hadn't inspired such a great show.

It was a decent book, although perhaps too short to fullfil its potential, thus reminding me a description of movie scenes from Castle. I knew the culprit halfway through the book but I didn't know the details and motives. I liked the character of Jameson Rook very much but then again, he was the exact image of Richard Castle and Castle is awesome :D Nikki Heat was portrayed as a successful female cop in a bit of a heat because of Rook (a daydream of Castle perhaps) :D All in all, this book is a good way to spend time ;)
