[a:Michael Morpurgo|8080|Michael Morpurgo|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1260905000p2/8080.jpg] is one of my all-time favourites even though (before today) I had only read one of his books. I don't know why I never branched out to reading any of his other stuff when I was younger, I only read [b:Kensuke's Kingdom|1033346|Kensuke's Kingdom|Michael Morpurgo|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1337229972l/1033346._SY75_.jpg|2453747].
I came across Kaspar: Prince of Cats on Libby when searching for something to listen to between my other books. It is a three-hour audiobook and it was a lovely quick listen. Michael Morpurgo writes stories that anyone of any age can enjoy. If you're looking for something easy to listen to, I'd recommend giving this a go!

MIchael Morpurgo writes such excellent historical fiction for children that it's hard to think of anything to say.
This book takes us eventually from the Savoy Hotel in London to the voyage of the Titanic, and along the way it tells us of class differences and ways of living a hundred years ago, as well as of friendship and of bravery. Kaspar is what binds it together, but it's really about Johnny and his journey. A great story.

A sweet book based on the sinking of the titanic and the life of a cat.
I'd recomend Michal Morpurgo's books for any child, they are often wholsome stories based on rwally life events that teach not only about time in history but also about people and the ways they act.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These reviews are all my own opinion and a reflection of my personal tastes and mood at the time of reading, NOT a reflection of the books plot or authors ability.

Absolutely amazing, I even cried at points. I know this is a children’s book, and an extremely short one at that, but it was a heartwarming story. I can truly understand why I loved it as a kid. Please read this it was the best break from the types of books I usually read, so I can only assume it will be the same for you.

Kasper the Prince of cats is a tale set at The Savoy Hotel in London in the year of 1917 about the orphaned fourteen year old bell boy ‘Johnny Trott’. Everything changes when he meets the sophisticated Countess Kandinsky and the just as sophisticated Prince Kasper Kandinsky, her cat. When things take a turn for the worst, Johnny must now take care of Kasper at the same time as trying keep this a secret he meets the guest, Lizziebeth, a full of life American girl who’s just discovered Kasper in his room.
I first read this book when I was 9 years old and upon first read it became my favourite book and also the first book I actively reread as a child which may of been due to my soft spot for fluffy felines but also the amazing writing and plot. I was fortunate enough to be gifted the book for Christmas after discussing with my friend what our favourite books were as children (thank you Briana, your the best). Reading all these years later was quite the experience.
The nostalgia of seeing the beautifully illustrated pages by Michael Foreman was quite magical. The writing itself really brings to life The Savoy Hotel and all of the characters but being able to see the illustrations just adds that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’! I was surprised of the lessons I was reminded by when reading which it taught me all those years ago. If you can have anything, have hope. You really never know what’s round the corner. Unexpected friendships are usually the best ones. This book truly is a treasure with themes of hope, loss, courage, friendship, adventure and loyalty.
Once I picked it up to start reading, I didn’t put it back down until I was finished. I was so shocked to find myself on the last page but even more shocked to find myself with a wobbling bottom lip and eyes full of tears! It really is engaging from start to finish and one that will stay with you in your heart. Kasper Prince of cats really is a heart warming tale full of life lessons which I would recommend to any young readers and anyone who’s fond of cats.
