Why are people so weird? What Connell and Marianne have for each other is more than just love. Because love is never enough. A strange relationship between these two teenagers and later young adults is laid bare by Sally Rooney in this not-so-normal yet addictive novel.
By no means is this a happy story, there are a lot of trigger points, some abuse, low self-esteem issues and the classic reluctance to accept love in life. Yet it captures the soul of a young generation perfectly.
What I didn't like: I really don't enjoy a book if the dialogue lacks quotation marks. It makes the entire reading experience a bit tedious. There are frequent jumps in the timeline and a lot of back-tracking, which will get some time getting used to.

I honestly found this one very slow and uneventful.

Gorgeous writing. It's simplicity is what stunned me. The characters were real and un-incredible, but that's why I liked it.
The back and forth timeline was interesting and I was grateful she always brought the reader back to the present.
Honestly, the unsatisfactory ending was also just right for this book.
