This series gets better as it goes along. Telling the story of the world's greatest robots, their advocates and creators, who are being hunted by a serial killer. Urasawe gets us invested in the characters as he takes us into their past and introduces us to more of them. Borrowing from the Astro Boy mythos, Urasawa has created a tight, engaging murder mystery that also explores what it means to be human.

So yeah... I just blasted through this volume in one sitting before bed and holy shit is all there is to say. That, and I'm glad I bought volume 3 at the same time so I have something to tide me over until I can get more.

I'm so glad I'm reading this series, Urasawa really delves right into the robot/human rights genre by retrofitting a classic series but in a distinctly different way. No further explanation needed, read this today.

I did NOT realize this was the second in the series, so I'm definitely going back to read the first (and then ones after) but HOLY CRAP I STILL LOVED THIS SO MUCH. The art, god, the art is fucking beautiful. It's a black and white color palette mostly, (with the first few pages colored? anyone know why that is? The whole book colored would be gorgeous as hell), with manga-style characters and backgrounds but the interesting angles and simple but effective character and scenery design just makes this feel like a gorgeous film. And I love androids/robots, especially in manga. I can't believe I found this series randomly, I love it!
