4.5/5 stars
I obviously loved this book. I mean is Vampire Academy guys, come on. But I just felt that this book had a lot of things in it that weren't necessary. I honestly had a really hard time getting through it. For the first 200 pages, I could barely read more than a chapter at a time. Roses emotions and her memories were just to hard to bare.
But at about the halfway point, things took a complete turn. A shocking turn. Rose was no longer the strong female lead that I have grown to know and love. For that period in the book, I was mentally shouting at her to come back! I needed her. I knew the reasons as to why she wasn't able to be herself, but I knew she was still strong enough to fight; that is exactly what she did.
I absolutely loved the ending. The last few pages had exactly what I knew what going to happen. And yet it still shocked me.
I give this one a 4.5/5 stars. Only because, like I said, it had a lot of things that could have been left out. Also because this has been the only Vampire Academy book so far that I have had so much trouble reading. But definitely recommend this. Again Richelle Mead, is amazing.

Usually by this point in a series my attention is started to wane and my ratings will slowly drop with each installment. I am excited to say that this is not the case with the fourth book in Vampire Academy. Rose is out on her own in this book as she tries to keep a promise to Dimitri. The story is quite a bit slower than past books as Rose tries to come to terms with the events of book three, but it worked for me. The slow pace and the struggle, it all made sense. This book tore my heart out in new ways.

i cried more at this book than any other i have ever read. astonishing, i know! does that mean this is my favorite book? if so, i will NOT be ashamed!!!!
The only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars is because this book drove me crazy! So much shitty stuff happened that I didn't want to happen. It was amazing and so well written but omg it was like a punch in the heart.
