I have a bad habit of having to finish a series. This series is testing my resolve. Let's admit it, we read YA Fantasy to escape, to get out of our heads and break free of the constraints of daily life. And yet, this series continues to sadden me. If it was trashy fun, then fine. But it clearly attempts at being more – deep, bonded friendship at its finest, and yet, its melodramatic characters continue to lack subsistence and growth. Nothing scraps deeper than surface level. Its depth is as puncturing as its imaginary vampires' fangs.

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Once you look past the cheesy writing, Blood Promise actually delivers a solid, action packed story that moves at a steady, manageable pace. After a long series break, it reminded me why I liked this world to begin with. Not perfect, but enough to keep me reading. On to the next.

Absolutely loved this book! I was so hooked the whole time, with Dimitri’s strigoi self being very well written and engaging. My heart broke for rose, and the twist at the end threw me!

I honestly hope rose gets closer with Adrian, his character development has been great!

This was a lot slower than the previous three books but did deliver a tremendous amount of character development for all major parties. I wasn't as obsessively addicted to the story in this one until the final 200ish pages when things really started to pick up. I feel this book marks the beginning of a new 'chapter' for the VA gang and things have been set up very nicely for the next book.

I am going to get the next one because I HAVE to know what happens next

Not the best in the series, it was a bit slow at times and I wished the story would move on a bit quicker at times. But overall, it was still a great book!! It was quite nice to have a change of setting and "explore" some of Russia, and the action towards the end made it impossible for me to put the book down! I think I'm on to the next book right away, I love this series!

I liked that we got away from the academy and got to visit Russia.
