The pacing was horrendous in the book. It was almost a 3 star but the last half saved it enough to be 4 stars. The general premise of Rose going out on a quest to kill Dimitri is very cool but like nothing happened for like half of the book. Rose finds Dimitri’s family and messes around there for a good portion of the book. Finally she ends up leaving and gets captured by Dimitri and the plot picks up from there. I have noticed over the last few books this seems to be a general theme. What I mean is, there is a lot of nothing happening (basic plot points) and then towards the end is when all the action and major plot points happen. I don’t exactly hate it but I felt like this one was just generally really slow, a little too slow

Okay so this is my first 2 star read this year.... i just didnt enjoy this book as much as i did the last one. The first half of the book just dragged and the other half is when the action picked up but even then i wasnt enjoying it. I really love this series but this book disappointed me. Didnt get much of Lissa character except when Rose went into Lissa head. Adrian I still love and wanted more of him in this book. Dimitri even though i really love him... im just kinda bored with him and Rose.

So far my Ratings for this Series:
* Vampire Academy ☆☆☆☆
* Frostbite ☆☆☆
* Shadow Kissed ☆☆☆☆☆
* Blood Promise ☆☆

Even better than the third book, which had been my favorite thus far. There were just so many ups and downs! Loved everything that happened, even the stuff that hurt to read about it...Dimitri :( Plus I actually started to like Lissa a bit more now that she's not taking Rose for granted. Oh, and I totally predicted the ending after Rose learned about Robert ;)

cant believe this is the series that brought me and courtney together
emotional tense medium-paced

Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This is where things start getting interesting, the stakes are raised and our emotional roller-coaster begins.

Rose embarks on a dangerous journey to fulfill a heartbreaking promise, leading her far from St. Vladimir’s Academy and into a richly developed new setting in Russia. The world-building expands the vampire lore and introduces different cultural perspectives on dhampirs and Moroi. We also explore new possibilities with spirit and all it's mysteries.

Lissa navigates her own struggles back at the academy, dealing with new influences that test her relationships and judgment. As Rose and Lissa’s paths diverge, their bond is pushed to its limits. This parallel storylines was masterfully weaved, keeping the stakes high throughout the novel.

As always, another shocking ending. Bring on book 5.

Great series. This book is not my favorite because it was very painful to read. I love these characters and I hate to see them suffer...

Really more of a 3.5 stars but I couldn't give this one a fourth star like the Vampire Academy books that come before it. I just couldn't get into it as much, and even though I still enjoyed it in the long run I found myself skipping ahead in places to find something to keep me reading. I felt like I was being force-fed - well, not information, but Something.

Similar to the rest of the series. Very light, but interesting enough to keep reading.

Blood promise didn´t rellay live up to my expectations, don´t get me wrong, I loved most part of it but some moments made me feel like this book wasn´t neccesary, like it was a filler book. It ended right were it started.

Let´s start with going over the negatives. I felt like the whole storyline with the alchemist were a bit forced, like it was just there to explain things and didn´t really give any further story later on.
When Lissa and Rose were apart, the auther made an atempt to write two storylines at once, on Lissas part I found it very confusing, Rose could rewind in her memory which made it all harder to follow along. The last fight with compulsion was also way to confusing and I honestly, I didn´t understand how they won.

Tho, I did like the concept of Rose´s flashbacks, when we get to know Dimitri a little more and their relationship, even though I liked the mystery of Dimitri and his character, it felt nice to get to know some parts of his past and how he and Rose fell in love. Like when they did snowangels in the snow.
I also loved how Rose stayed with Dimitri´s family in Baia, they really got along and I found Victoria very sweet and a good match as Rose´s friend. Yeva scared me a bit in at first but she had a good heart.

When Dimitri kidnapped Rose my firts thought was not positive, but after a while I even started liking Dimitri as a Strigoi. He was so desperate for Rose and even if that wram fuzzy side was gone I liked seeing som passion in him.

Overall, i liked this book very much. It made me feel so many things and I still love the characters and I found that most of them really have developed since book 1.
