Become the storm you are hiding
a hurricane does not run from the rain.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.

I bought this book because tumblr is like, in love with a few of the poems in it, and I am too. Because they are beautiful, but wow. Every single one of these poems was beautiful, both in execution and message. I screenshot so many of them to keep, and every other page I was going back to something that happened to me. Because this is so real. I literally felt like this was written for me, and I think that's how poetry books are supposed to feel. Like this is your language. I think people need to find poetry in their language, and that's what this was. This was my language.

This was so achingly beautiful. This touched my soul on another level. And I can't even find words to articulate it. All I know is that I feel like some of these poems soaked right into my bones and changed me.

Absolutely beautiful.

I'm used to liking most poetry collections I read, never loving any. They're usually not what I'm looking for, but that definitely isn't the case with this one. This collection is so beautifully written and it touched my heart so deeply. I loved every second of reading it so much.

This book is an example of how beautiful writing doesn't mean good poetry. The poems were repetitive and came off cheesy and well, Tumblr-y. Which is often where the poet's writing is found.
There were many gems in this book. But not enough to increase the rating.

Beautiful poetry

Great book of poems. Nikita has a way of thinking so existentially that it's beautiful without being overwhelming. I love how she connects life, nature, the ocean and wild souls.

unfortunately, I didn't feel like any of nikita's poems spoke to me. they all felt too general, like they were trying to appeal to as many people as possible. but that's what caused them to lack the depth and gravitas that people so often look for in poetry. something that speaks to a specific moment in their lives. sadly disappointed by this collection.

Thunder in their hearts,
and chaos in their bones."

Really nice collection of poems.

I enjoyed the writing itself and most of the topics even. It’s more about self strengthening and acceptance than the heartbreak that plagued other poetry. The sections of elements joined the poems well thematically and the black pages brought life to dead trees.
