GEORGIE!!!!! I LOVE THE LAUREN LAYNE UNIVERSE!!!!

3.5
Not quite as good as the first but I still enjoyed it.
I mainly just can’t wait for Kennedy and Kate’s story.

This book was everything I wanted. The fake dating trope. It’s based in New York and it involves business men. I was a little skeptical when I first started it but I was instantly hooked. I loved this book and Matt and Sabrina just made me happy.

3.75 stars

After the first book, I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked Hard Sell. I'd seen this couple in the previous book, but I was still a little cautious approaching this book. There were a lot of things that could have turned me off it, but these didn't happen.

One of my favorite things about this book was the trope: enemies with benefits to lovers. Matt and Sabrina had such good chemistry, and they actually helped each other grow. I think that the fact that they had known each other for years made everything about this book more realistic and made me like them more. I usually hate endings like this, but I believed more, at least, because Matt and Sabrina had been involved somewhat for years.

That was my problem with this author's past couple of books, that everything progressed in approximately 3 months with little buildup. The hinting of the couple in books to come is something I've been waiting for since the Stiletto series and haven't really found in the author's last few standalones. Having realized this, I'm more excited for Kennedy and Kate's book!

Hard Sell was a hot read of a novel with fleshed out characters who help each other become better people, which is definitely a plus. The plot and the couple''s development easily intertwined, and the hero actually apologizes for his actions!! I'm eagerly anticipating the next book!

original review:

okay,,,,I really liked this one but although the ending makes more sense than when it happened in walk of shame, I still thought it was kinda fast…

“I’ve been thinking the hardest part of this whole thing will be faking being in love when I don’t even believe in love. Now I know better. The hardest thing is going to be keeping my hands off the only woman I’ve ever wanted.”

Hard Sell is the second book in the 21 Wall Street Series and it follows the story of Matt and Sabrina. Matt is young and amazing at what he does. He’s on top of the world or so he thinks. When his wild night in Vegas makes headlines, he’s forced to do the one thing he’s never wanted to do. He needs a girlfriend and fast. If he can prove to his bosses that he’s changed and put the wild man to rest, his job will be saved…if not, it’s the ax for him….Sabrina is known as the fixer. There isn’t any situation that she can’t find a way out of. She is the very best. So, when Matt comes to her with his problem, she knows it will be a challenge, but she can’t possibly say no. With rules in place and their game faces on, will these two stick to the rules or will they cross the uncrossable line??? There’s only one way to find out….

I loved the idea of Hard Sell. I’m a sucker for fake relationships and an even bigger sucker for those enemies to lovers story-lines. And I thought Lauren Layne’s take on it was really interesting. I mean Matt and Sabrina couldn’t stand one another, yet at the same time, they were kinda sorta maybe friends??? Overall, I thought that Matt and Sabrina had some good chemistry. I loved seeing the two of them go off on each other and couldn’t wait to see the tension between the two of them explode. That being said, I would have loved to have seen some flashbacks of Matt and Sabrina. It’s clear to the reader that two of them have a past and I feel as though I would have understood these characters more if we had gotten to see some of that past. What happened to them? What led them to hooking up? When did the deep hate grow between them? I feel those issues were vital to the story and by not seeing the whole picture clearly, it left me feeling like something was missing.

Overall, I thought Hard Sell was an ok read. It’s not my favorite from this author, but I still found it to be an enjoyable and engaging read. I loved the friendships between Matt and his buddies. I loved the banter between Matt and Sabrina and loved the steamy moments between the two of them. The story-line itself was a fresh and fun take on the whole enemies to lovers/fake relationship troupe. I just felt like something was missing. Maybe I needed some more angst; some more drama. I’m not really sure. I think Hard Sell will be one of those books you either love or you hate. For me, I didn’t love it, but still had a good time reading it.

*I was provided an ARC copy of this book via the publisher & NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*

I really enjoyed this one! I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers but they weren’t true enemies, they just like to argue with each other. I think it got them going to bicker with each other. It definitely lead to some awesome sexual tension. I’m looking forward to the next couple, I like them the best.

Still with the same female narrator that eh.

Matt is incredible.

I like this book even it wasn’t something new
By the way, I like that characters have history and the main character was really badass

Matt staggers in off a red-eye flight from his cousin’s Vegas bachelor party to find his bosses waiting for him. It seems his reputation beat him home. Desperate not to get fired, he hired his nemesis Sabrina to help with his public persona redemption.

I liked the other stories in the series but I was a bit disappointed how rushed this one felt. I did love that the dog was already smitten by the time Sabrina realized they already met.

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Fake relationship
