Matt and Sabrina fell into bed together the first night they met. From then on it was bickering and disagreements and continued hookups. But was it really hate fueling it? Or a big misunderstanding and a ton of chemistry?
Until Matt could use Sabrina's help and they are forced to confront their history and feelings.
Loved this story!! Rom com at its finest! Great banter and chemistry! Loved the cameo of Georgie, from Walk of Shame!
Thanks to Netgalley for the Advance reader copy.

Fine. It was nice that they already had a history together so it was fun watching them accidentally fall in love
Hard Sell is the third installment in Lauren Layne's 21 Wall Street series. I found this one to be a bit boring and I could not connect with either of the two main characters.
The book is about a wunderkind stock broker named Matt. He ends up going to a family member's bachelor party in Vegas and find his indiscretions blasted all over the WSJ. Much to his chagrin, his bosses demand that he start dating someone to save his reputation. He considers this and can only think of one person to do this with - a former fling who knows won't develop feelings for and vice versa. The former fling, Sabrina, is an Olivia Pope of sorts for Wall Street. People hire her for her connections and to salvage situations. Matt ends up hiring her but as they spend more time together, he realizes that he's pegged her all wrong and that he doesn't hate her after all. Sabrina realizes the same and they find themselves having feelings for each other. The both of their upbringings couldn't be anymore different and just because one is privileged (Matt), it doesn't mean he had a happy childhood. Matt learns of Sabrina's past and understands why she is the way she is and has always been non-committal. They end up being each other's balms and - ta da - have an HEA.
I liked this book less than the first one in the series. While I thought the story was interesting, I'm kind of over the whole I-love-her-but-can't-tell-her-I-love-her thing. Why can't some men be assertive and forthcoming? It would save a lot of time and heartache for both parties.

*3,8 stars*
Read for Smutathon round 3.
The ending was a bit rushed but I loved the characters and the chemestry and sexual tension between them.

I finished this. . . a month ago, so I don’t really have a review, because I don’t remember the details. But overall, it was enjoyable and my issues with it were minor and had to do with pacing towards the end.

3.5 Frienimies to Lovers Stars
Matt is a Wall Street wiz kid and he has just been caught in a precarious situation at a bachelor party by a reporter for the Wall Street Journal. He needs to fix his reputation fast, before his clients start jumping ship and there is no better way to do that then to seem like he is in a committed relationship.
Sabrina is the best fixer in town. If you have a problem she knows how to make it go away. She has known Matt for a few years, they even seem to end up in bed together from time to time. It’s not friends with benefits by any means. Matt gets under her skin and it is more like enemies with benefits. This makes her perfect for the role of fake girlfriend.
It is so simple or at least it should be there should be no way that anything becomes of this. But spending time together not fighting is making each see the other in a new light and they just might be more perfect for each other than either knew.
This a cute enemies to lovers tale and I liked getting into the history of both individuals to see why they have avoided each other until now. Matt’s reluctance for a relationship because of his childhood and current family situation completely made sense.
This is exactly the kind of story I expect for Lauren Layne and she is still my go to for contemporary romance since I know it will be a great blend of cute and funny.
I’m still waiting for Kennedy and Kate to figure out their situation, hopefully that book is next.

“And you think that’s me? Your mortal enemy?”
“I want you because you’re my mortal enemy, Sabrina.”
“Why?” His eyes lock on mine. “Because of all the women in my life, you’re the one I can count on to never fall in love with me.”

Hell, to be completely honest, I don’t know that he was ever my worst enemy, so much as my biggest threat. The person who I sensed, even from the very beginning, could destroy me. What I didn’t see until recently was how the person with the power to destroy you can also be the one to lift you up.

I received a finished copy from Thomas Allen & Son in exchange for an honest review.

Sometimes, you want to read a decadent, sinful romance. Sometimes you need the glamour and the passion to leap off the page. Hard Sell is that book, and it is fun.
This book is fire, let’s be real. Two confident, successful people with a past reunite as enemies and verbally spar? Yes. Please. I need these hate to love romances. Sabrina and Matt a great example of why these dynamics are so fun to read.
I loved Sabrina as a character. She’s smart, confident, and and doesn’t take shit from people. She’s kick-ass, yet we also get to see a vulnerable side of her which balances out her character nicely. Matt is also a great character, though prone to being a douche if I’m honest. Sometimes I wanted to punch him, and if you read this book you’ll understand why. He disrespects Sabrina sometimes.
I read this book as a standalone, which is definitely possible. Characters from the previous book do have a fair presence in this book, so if that will bother you, I suggest starting with book one. In any case, I enjoyed reading about the friendships and other couples in the series. It provides a nice balance to the intense romance between Sabrina and Matt.
Hard Sell is a quick, fun, sexy read. Second chance romance - kind of - and hate to love romance wrapped up in one. If this sounds good to you, check out this book.
