“I’m not in panic over my love for her. On the contrary, loving Sabrina might just be the most sane, smartest thing I’ve ever done.
I love her. I love her more than anything.
My panic? Fear that I might be too late—that she might no longer love me.”

I want to start my review by saying : I'm in love.
I don't think there was a single thing about this book I didn't like. And the last time I felt this way about a standalone romance in a series was while reading The Deal by Elle Kennedy. And anyone who knows me, knows how I loved that book.

Matt and Sabrina had caught my attention ever since their first appearance in "Hot Asset". I was instantly curious about them and it didn't take long for me to be hooked. I couldn't wait to read this one! And I'm happy to say, it did not disappoint.

I have a soft spot for the enemies/rivals to lovers trope. But it takes very particular writing for me to actually enjoy couples with this dynamic. And the way Lauren Layne writes it, makes me remember just why I love it. I can actually count on the fingers of one hand how many couples with this trope have caught my heart. It's a banging three. Sabrina and Matt included. So yes, I'm pretty picky.

Their fights were entertaining, their chemistry off-the charts, their bickering, their soft moments, their denial, their longing.. all of it was absolutely perfect. How they were both so anti-relationship but just couldn't handle the idea of the other being with someone else was one of my favorite things as well. I just loved them, I don't even know how to express it!

The romance aside, another aspect that just drew me to the book, was the friendships. How this group of friends are all so loyal to each other and so hell-bent on seeing each other happy. How they all come from different backgrounds from the old-money rich stoic guy, going to the new-money playboy passing by the hardass assistant, the hardworking fbi agent, the stubborn stock broker and finally the badass fixer who had the worst childhood but managed to pick her own self up... and somehow they all just fit. And in a way that just makes you root for every single one of them to find happiness.

One of the things that also intrigued me ever since the first installment in this trilogy was Kennedy and Kate's relationship... we know basically close to nothing, but the way the author writes it you just KNOW there's something. And I just can't wait to find out!

5 stars

What an amazing story. I won this book through goodreads and I am feeling pretty happy that I did. I had no idea that I was going to enjoy it as much as I did.

I fell in love with these characters. I hadn't read Ian and Lara's story before this but I definitely need to because everyone of these characters became real in my world. I lost sight of everything else because this author is fantastic at creating a story with a strong foundation and creating tension between the characters that was believable.

Definitely looking forward to reading more in this series and from this author.

I don't know what narcotics the author sprinkled into this series, but I finished ALL 3 in a week and stopped my life to do so. I am rating ALL THREE 5 stars because they all just had me in a death grip. It jolted me out of a reading slump. I squealed like a small child and could not stop laughing/smiling. I want to read every book by Lauren Layne for the rest of my LIFE.

I love this new series. Matt and Sabrina have the perfect enemies to lovers story. I’ve read all of this author’s books and I’ve yet to read one I haven’t throughly enjoyed.

Another great one for this series. Loved hearing more about Ian and Lara's continued relationship, and loved seeing the inevitable romance storyline of Matt & Sabrina. I only deducted one star, because it was pretty obvious how it would turn out, but then again, most romance books are. Ha ha. However, this book was full of sweet, funny, sassy, romance, and more. Learning more about the depth behind Matt's character was nice, because he was probably the most superficial one from the first book of the series. So, it was nice to get a more rounded perspective and to see the "sappy" side of him too. Excited for the third and final part of this series!

Cute enemies to lovers. Audiobook was great.

This was a shorter and fun listen. I love Zachary Webber as a narrator, so anything with him I usually try to listen.
