Fever Pitch

Heidi Cullinan

Featuring a new university but some of the same characters as the original, this is a lovely sequel to Love Lessons.
Aaron and Giles were a hot mess of a pair, much lack of communication at the beginning but their eventual reconciliation was well done and totally real.
The book also has a real heart to it, a community based around music and the joyful benefits it can bring and it comes across in spades in this story.

I think this author is a new favorite. I loved this just as much as Love Lessons and I was sooo happy to find out that Walter is a huge part of his book. I adore Walter in this even more than in the last one, he's exactly the character I adore and look for. This one has a big climax that I dont usually like but I love the characters so much, I'm ok with it. I do wish there were more discussions about the very unhealthy thoughts the mc has regarding suicide bc its so good discussing all the other unhealthy thoughts.

A lovly book to read, I'm looking forward to having the next book in the series in my hands! I love how Heidi Cullinan is so pro GLBT, it's immensely inspiring.

Ok so, I have mixed feelings. The book started fantastic, I was super eager to read it, got excited to read the next chapter and so on. Then it reached the middle, I got bored, the story started to move really slow and just all the bad things were happening at one time, then it reached the end, all the bad things basically got shoved away for an even bigger problem and it ended off great, setting it up for the next book.

I mean, I'm excited for the next story, but scared I'll be disappointed?? I'll get to it though soon.

Either way, it was pretty good and I did like the characters, I like the character's appearances from the first book and how large of a role they had in this one as like "mentors" it was nice.

I enjoyed this one a lot more than I was expecting too. Whilst I liked book 1, it wasn't a favourite read at the time so I delayed getting this one. And it is based around music, and whilst not one, rock band/musician stories are not favourites either (never sure why).
However, this one I did really like. I actually enjoyed the music aspects. I felt I could be there, hearing the music at times and the intensity of both Aaron and Giles' feelings for music came through.
Their romance was slooooooooow burn. Giles seemed to morph from in control guy to jibbering wreck quite quickly. However, I did like the romance between them.
The secondary adult characters seemed at times a bit too much - either uber supportive or massively aggressive and controlling. Giles' dad was the best guy though.
Baz and Elijah obviously have a lot of history, Independently and together and the book ends with lots of leads into their story.
Whilst this is book 2 and Walter and Kelly from book 1 are fairly major players here too, I would consider this standalone as it is a few years since I read book 1. Good to see characters following through in a series, and to see their happy ever after wedding!

Just re listened to the audio book I can’t express how much I want this to be a movie just to see all the acapella numbers come to life

I honestly didn't think I would find a story that gave me the same feeling that Love Lessons did. However, this one is right up there with it. Different characters, but the same result for me.

This one is a little darker(?, not sure if it's the right word). It's definitely grittier and tackles harder social issues in particular.

I loved the way Walter integrated into the story, as I still adore him and Kelly. Not that I'm done with Aaron and Giles... not by a long shot!

I'm also begging Ms Cullinan for Baz and Elijah's story.... pretty, please!

I love love loved it! I even loved every minute I had to pause and get on YouTube to listen to one of the songs that was referenced. Also, every time there was an Elijah scene I hoped that he would get his own HEA. I also love K.A. Mithchell's Eli!
