This has been on my shelf since 1980, but somehow I've never read it until now. Super charming, but couldn't help feeling disappointed at the end--I wanted some sort of resolution. Looking forward to reading it to the girls when they're older, though.

Stuart little is such a funny story to think about. Did Mrs. Little really get pregnant and carry a child just for it to be about 2 inches tall and resemble a mouse?? And no one thought to check if the Littles were all there upstairs? I do enjoy Stuart's solutions to being so small in a human world but found that this story lacked a cohesive narrative - it's short, unrelated adventures of Stuart and then it abruptly ends with no explanation or resolution. But anyways now I want to rewatch the movie (a classic of my childhood) despite the book being 2.5 ⭐.
I love animal stories, okay? But this felt like a small short story with characters and stories thrown together and it just felt... bland. It was just okay for me.

The two chapters surrounding the sailboat race are among the most delightful passages ever written and sure to put a smile on the face of even the most wizened curmudgeon. The rest of the chapters hold up as great individual vignettes as we tag along with the wonderful Stuart. The story meanders a bit and White doesn't seem to particularly care about Stuart's role in the Little family, which feels like it meanders from the message.
