I can see the charm of the book for some people and my kids (7 and 5 years old) absolutely loved it as a read aloud. I had a harder time with it.

Each chapter in the book is like it's own short story all connected loosely to the overall plot (very common for children's classics). The stories often felt random to me and I would have liked to see more of a plot. When we did get more (about halfway through), the chapters then went back to random (and I do mean random) adventures along Stuart's journey and then the book just ends without even trying to tie up the loose ends of the plot. That was really frustrating for me.

It isn't a bad book. It has a whimsical feel and if you like adventure children's classics, this might be one to try. It just wasn't for me.

So...Stuart's kind of a jerk. Loved the beginning, but from the Margalo parts on, I hated it.

I couldn't, I tried but couldn't add one more chapter after reading almost 50%.
The characters are so hard to connect with, I loved Charlotte's web so so much but this one is a complete disaster for me.

I'm not rating this because the book was not made for me. It was cute, but the ending was dissatisfying. Just watch the movie.

sickly sweet. I was a little disappointed in the direction of the book but overall, i‘m glad to have read it.

So, I read this with my six year old son. It's a cute book, a nice little story about a mouse and his adventures. My son thought it was funny. However - the ending? So weird, so abrupt. What the heck happened? No resolution! #ugh Basically, it's a weird book to read as an adult. End of story.

So...this book is a little weirder than I remember it being.
