My son enjoyed parts of this book when we read it together, but we were both disappointed that there was no real ending. The last third of the book is devoted to a quest with no resolution, and then the book just ends. For me, there were a lot of parts that were too old fashioned, verbose, and kind of boring.
The ending alone was so poignant and so hopeful that I think of it now and then.

A fun story about a mouse. I had never read it before, and needed a children's classic for a college class. White's writing is beautiful at times, and Garth Williams' illustrations are adorable.
