Loved it. I even went out and bought the second book because all the libraries have wait lists. I can't wait to read how this works out.

Was a much better book when I was 12, rereading at 25, it does not hit the same at all. How could I overlook Balthazar Though!!

I'm two chapters in and this B won't stop blabbing 'mentally' about some dude she met a few hours ago for 10 minutes tops. you good, B? You sound obsessed girly, keep it together. this book is too cringy for me.

I had honestly expected more, and I actually regret buying it because I know that i will never read this again. It was just another of those love stories where the young couple can't be together. Sure the heroine had a bit of backbone, but it simply wasn't enough to get me interested in this book.

It has taken me a long time to finally finish this book. I picked it up like three times in the last several years, and am just now finishing it. And given how hard a time I had, I’m surprised it really wasn’t so bad.
I will say that I like the surprise about halfway through. (Spoilers!) I didn’t expect Bianca to be the vampire, and I liked that. And saying that, I did expect Lucas to be a slayer. Especially with the way he was acting. (End Spoilers!) But I did like the surprise and how it was handled, the no nonsense that all the other students felt, and the set up of the school because of it.
I didn’t really feel the romance between Bianca and Lucas, though. It was a little steamy a couple of times, and I liked the added biting thrown in. But I still didn’t really love them as a couple. It just wasn’t there for me.
I liked all the vampire myth used, the explanations behind it all, and how open they were with each other about it once they knew. And I was interested enough through most of it. Still, I probably won’t be picking up the next one.

Dont get me wrong I REALLY LOVE but Bianca seems to spend most of her time feeling sorry for herself. All she seems to do is whine about how she hates evernight, whine how she has to lie to lucas, etc... For god sake woman just get on with your life
I've also read that people seem to hate the fact that Claudia Gray just drops it on you that Bianca is a vampire, everyone in the school is a vampire, etc... I happen to like that. The first time I read this book I thought everyone is really weird but when I read it for the second time I found that Claudia Gray does hint about vampires throught out the first few chapters. E.G. In the weeks leading up to the Autumn Ball Bianca says something like this to Patrice >

I feel like I enjoyed that more than my second read. I still think Bianca is somewhat shallow but let myself enjoy it for what it is. I appreciate what young, teenage me enjoyed about the story and would still probably rate it a solid 4 stars.
I particularly like the fact that the female character is the supernatural being, as opposed to the mysterious broody male. It made for an interesting take.
