Listened on audio. Elsie is toxic and childish. She needs therapy not a relationship lol. Shoutout to Shelbie who listened to me give her a play by play of how not enjoyable I found this to be

I didn't like this much because the main conflict was so stupid.

I rated higher than I might otherwise, because I think this is the first book I've read where I really saw myself. (Almost too much, in some cases, since I identify with Ginny and my ex was very much like Elsie lol) I really loved reading an NB MC in a queer relationship.
This was a quick read, fun, and I loved the spicy scenes. I didn't like Mistakes Were Made, so I was cautious about this one, but I definitely enjoyed it overall.
However, I hate third act breakups, and I saw this I've coming a mile away. I didn't see the reason coming, though. That felt completely out of left field and didn't reflect who the characters had been up to that point.
A massive fight over not sharing one piece of information - and basically tearing into a decade of friendship - was an incredible overreaction. The kind of overreaction that usually hides another reason, but there wasn't anything under it. Being that angry over not telling someone you quit your job was so unbelievable.
However, I did like the way they got back together - it didn't feel rushed or contrived to me at all.

💭Thoughts:
Gosh I was LOVING this book until that third act break up. I already dislike miscommunication tropes but this was unpalatable. It took me right out of enjoying the story. The spice is amazing, I was loving the plot, but the fallout was OTT and cruel. I can’t imagine forgiving someone who spoke to me how Elsie spoke to Ginny, so it made them coming back together unbelievable
I’ll definitely check out another Meryl Wilsner book but I’ll be checking for 3rd act break up tropes first 😅

The first part was great, but holy moly, the lack of communication did lower the rating.
The "middle" part was just awful for me and the conclusion was too short for my liking.

Came here for the chaotic honeymoon, stayed for the best friends to lovers story. Not the best book from Wilsner (Mistakes were made will forever hold that spot), but I enjoyed this all the same.
