While I like friends to lovers, I felt like this book left a lot to be desired. I was interested in the premise because it sounded like a fun time and part of the story takes place on an island! That was definitely the vibe I wanted when I read this. The beginning is actually pretty good, honestly, because we learn about Elsie’s struggle with her work and family and we also learn that her best friend, Ginny, is secretly in love with her and I think it set things up well for a cutesy romance to develop. However, that isn’t really what happens and things escalated so much quicker than I even expected into so much spice that didn’t really make as much sense with where it takes place in the book. I think that we missed out on a lot more chemistry building and tension because of it. Plus I was not a fan of the miscommunication that takes place and the conclusion was sort of predictable in a ‘here’s-your-happily-ever-after-even-though-there-really-wasn’t-much-added-in this-portion-romance-wise’ kind of way. Wish it had been more enjoyable because I thought I was going to really like it.

Another great read from Meryl Wilsner, My Best Friend's Honeymoon is straightforward but executed to perfection, and also very very hot! Wilsner is one of the best in mainstream publishing at writing sex and it's good to see them exploring some fun new territory here.
Very little happens in this book, which is something I might usually say as a negative, but it's really not, here. The book communicates very quickly the simple flaw that each character needs to overcome to be happy (Elsie lets other people make all her decisions for her, Ginny bases their whole life around Elsie). Then it lets them mostly have fun and taste how good they are for each otherand taste each other . Then they get separated so that we have to see them putting in some work, then it gives them their happy ending. Simple, but effective, and fun.
