3 stars. I really enjoyed this book. I didn't love it, unfortunately, but it was still really good.
I loved the writing and the story. I loved how the story was told in both Isabelle and Axel's perspectives and the fact that it was done well. I really liked all of those aspects but I wasn't too crazy about our two main characters.
Isabelle, oh, man, Isabelle. I sympathized with her so much. I mean she was handed a shitty deck in life and it sucked for her and stuff. I completely get it and I really want to see her win and overcome but dammit she was so depressing and emotionally unstable all the time that I just became annoyed with her most of the time. She was so confusing with her actions and decisions. I don't know, she was just incredibly infuriating to me.
Axel was such a headache when we first get introduced to him. He was such an asshole. He kind of grew on me as the book went on but not much. I never did fall in love with him the way others seem to. He just annoyed me for the most part. *shrug* I don't know, he just didn't do it for me.
Greg Cage, on the other hand, HOT DIGGITY DAMN that man was HOT! I loved him to say the least. I can't wait to read his book cause I needs me some more of him.

With all that said, I have to comment on the amount of senseless cussing in this book. It isn’t even normal cussing, it is confusing, doesn’t-make-any-sense cussing. I had to reread a lot of sentences just to try and figure out what was being said. It was very distracting and kept pulling me out of the story. Overall, I give Axel 4 stars because the story was good. I do plan to read more from this author.

I'm about half way through this series right now, and I have to say I'm really enjoying it. No annoying writing issues, strong male and female characters, and just enough drama/angst without going into overkill. This is another series I'd recommend to fellow Kristen Ashley fans. Strong, former military, hot alpha-male types working together at a security company (ala Lee Nightingale) and the women that capture their hearts. The subjects Sloan touches on are serious, and she tells the story of this growing "family" from both the hero and heroine's pov. The women have fewer hijinks and hilarity than the Rock Chicks, as they have some pretty heavy matters weighing on them, but the warmth and compassion shared between them is strong. That isn't to say there aren't light moments though.
This is probably one of those series that will stay with me long after the books are finished (MADDOX LOCKE, GOT DAMN), and that I would certainly re-read in the future. Recommended!

This had heavy subject matter dealing with domestic violence and its after effects. But it told the story of two people unexpectedly finding their way back to each other and how love can help heal wounds and give you hope.
Following audio reader Sean Crisden, enjoying his voice as he sounds like Jeff Goldblum. However the female reader on the audio reads very breathy. I know its not fair to rate a book based on the audio readers, but i wouldn't have picked it up if he hadn't read it. I'd give Crisden a 5, female reader a 1, book itself 3.
A Beautifully done ending !! I loved and I am glad that even though it seemed that was Axel's B****h adoptive mother was against Axel and Izzy being together, Fate had other plans for them and brought them together once again and their love for one another was still strong and possible stronger! I LOVED THEM AND THEIR FAMILY OF FRIENDS(It was honestly a cute/nice story even with Izzy abusive ex-husband)!!!:D <3
3.75 stars. I really liked this one. I liked Axel and Izzy. Izzy was a very strong character. Their history was really sad and their reunification was heartwarming. Looking forward to more in the series (I'm reading the boxed set).
