A light-hearted and quick, yet informative, read about the menopause.  However, it is heavily geared towards an ultimate prescription for HRT, without a lot of discussion about other options.

Whilst I did read it to get the facts behind HRT, I did feel it would have been useful to present more facts about alternative therapies and treatments.

Absolutely brilliant book, so insightful and interesting. It's full of facts and myth busters about the menopause, perimenopause and HRT.

This is a real eye opener for someone coming up to potential menopause age. Having been through some issues myself this last year it's really interesting to hear that some of people who discuss their symptoms in the book, have similar symptoms to me. I am lucky that my Dr has taken all of this seriously and I have been really pleased with how it's gone so far. The waiting has been a bit frustrating but everyone is in the same boat at the moment so I count myself lucky.

This book is full of really interesting and frustrating (for them) stories where Drs have not listened or not well enough informed of the different types of HRT and menopausal symptoms to look for, causing women to have to wait, sometimes in pain and feeling utterly hopeless.

There are also facts explained and myths busted by a qualified Dr who is fascinating to listen to. I highly recommend this book to all women and men (they should know these things too), it's insightful and a huge eye opener. Brilliant!!

I didn't think this book is as good as everyone makes it out to be. It's very repetitive and basically says HRT is the holy grail, with concerns regarding breast cancer summarily dismissed. It is bulked out with lots of women telling their stories and Davina routinely commenting how the individual stories break her heart. When it comes to diagnosing whether you're in menopause, the old "12 months without a period" is trotted out. I'm on the progesterone only pill which means I haven't had a period in over 20 years. Am I just supposed to stop it or swap to a combined one to find out? No idea, topic not discussed. Also, if you still want to be on contraception while on HRT, is the mirena coil your only option? No idea, topic not discussed.

It is important to talk about the menopause, and more understanding from GPs is required. So any book trying to help with that is appreciated, and I hope it does help a lot of people. However, don't tell me to bloody exercise, take supplements and go on a diet - while that might generally be a good idea, it has nothing to do with the menopause per se, plus you're not a qualified dietician. I will copy out a few pages of helpful info, and that's that.
