Feyre and Rhys, the high lord and lady of the Night Court, are taking a much-needed break from rebuilding their Court and strengthening ties with the other Courts to celebrate the Winter Solstice with their close friends and family.
There's not much action in this novella. A little bit of 'catching up' with the other courts and a lot of reflection on the war and the effect it had on all of the people and the land, physically and mentally. The characters hope that a lot of healing will take place during the Solstice celebration, and they each try to find the right gifts for each other.
Of course, it just had to have the man thinking about sex, and one graphic sex scene, and this combination ruined the book. It is degrading towards women. If a man told me he wanted to bury himself inside me, and only wanted to pound me, I'd walk away. That's not romantic, that is a man asserting his dominance over HIS woman, (or as called in these books Mate, or Female) without a care for her desires or needs, believing, as men are still taught, that what is good for him IS good for HIS woman. It's about f**king, and that is not love.
Worse is that these books are being marketed to teenagers! Come on, that's BullS**t. Telling girls that being treated like a f**k toy is romantic and that is what a loving, caring, and intimate relationship is supposed to be! NO! It is not. I thought we were trying to empower our young women, not teach them to bow down and be used by a man. Yes, some people enjoy that, but this series is making it sound as if that is the only way love can be shown.
I would be giving these books higher ratings, but...
Enough with the rant. Honestly, this book I could've done without. I'm not saying it was bad, there was a story there, but its plot didn't really match the tone (action) with the actual series. It could've been summed up, the male's violent sexual desires and matching sex scene trashed, (because that is what it is, trash), and that summary placed in the next book. Yeah, that would make that one even longer, but as history shows, the upcoming male-dominant sex scenes that I'm guessing will happen, could be cut out, and thus shortening said book by a hundred pages, and making room for this one.
Stop marketing graphic and semi-abusive porn to teenagers! It's wrong! I would black out all of these scenes before I would allow my teenagers to read them.

This book is good, but not very memorable. It’s like a Christmas special. There is some important information, so I wouldn’t skip it. But not much happens in terms of plot. Some lighthearted moments and overall an easy read.

Obviously ACOFAS isn't anything like the 3 main novels before it. It's not as exciting and plot-heavy as the it's predecessors because IT'S A NOVELLA- It is lighthearted and has this festive vibe which I absolutely loved. 🩷 I wouldn't say that anything particularly important happens in this novella because it's mostly about everyone dealing with the aftermath of the events of ACOWAR and it was much needed after the emotional breakdown that ACOWAR caused.
The chapters switch POVs occasionally between Feyre, Rhys, Cass, and Mor. I just wish that Cass and Mor's pov were also in first-person like Rhys and Feyre's but it wasn't really an issue because the writing style was still perfect and I could understand their feelings just as well.
The best part of the novella were the sweet and domestic Feysand moments. We also did finally get the Cabin wall scene which is just- 😻🏹❤️🔥
Apart from Feysand, I loved how much time we got to spend with the other bat boys. With Cassian’s perspectives especially, we got to learn more about his respective history and how he healed from the war. It felt like this was written to be a legitimate “bridge” between the first trilogy to the next one and the next novel in the series which focuses on Cass and Nesta. I really would've liked to have Az, Elain & Lucien's POVs as well but oh well, they'll probably be getting their own book I assume!!
I wasn't expecting any part related to Tamlin especially in a novella this short. Even though he was a pr!ck in the previous books and still very much is I never thought I'd feel sorry for him. I couldn’t help being at least a little bit sad to see the state in which Rhys found him and how far he’d fallen. Despite everything, I can’t help but always feel that there's something interesting about his potential as a character. I actually hope that Mass will write more about him in the future books.
Even though it was too short, this novella is exactly what I hoped and dreamed it would be. Because at the end of the day, I got to read more than a hundred pages about my bat-boys and watch the Inner Circle interact, taunt, fuss, cry and laugh with each other, and that was all I ever needed ACOFAS to offer me. The snowball fight? OH MY HEART.🥵And the sauna scene? LMAO. It just felt SO GOOD to fall right back into the fairie worlf for a little bit longer.

I’m not really sure what purpose this novella serves in the overall series. The book is really short and only covers about a week’s worth of action in which the main cast of characters gather to celebrate a holiday. It is clear that the author is laying some ground work for future books, but I kind of wish that she had just continued on with a regular novel. The stories were fun and much more lighthearted in comparison to the first three, but the book itself felt a bit unnecessary.
