run of the mill whodunnit murder thriller, i guess - teetered between 3 and 4 but the twists did give it an edge as far as plot went. This is a significant step up from what other writers (maybe Freida McFadden) would do but I did feel that the characeterisation was still a little lacking, maybe Lisa Jewell would be slightly better. That said, I also felt that there shoudl've be slightly more attention given to the adam arc, which felt like it sprang out of nowhere and was a twist meant for a twist
The story, despite its multi-layered narrative, was communicated fairly clearly and I didn't have any issues following the characters despite reading this over several sittings. I felt sucked into the characters and felt like I wanted to root for the bad guys, and the ending compelled be enough to keep the pages turning. So I shan't be too hard on this despite some weaknessses, like being slightly too long

DNF at 15%. I was this story but this early on in the audiobook the narrator had said “nucular” instead of “nuclear” 3 times in two different chapters and I just can’t, it gives me the ick!
This book was very well written. This is the first book I've read by David Ellis and he did NOT disappoint. The book was a really great thriller. A great plot twist. This book kept you hooked and wanting to read more. The pages just kept turning. This book is a must read and so far the best book I've read in 2024.
