Ends with a little bit of a cliffhanger that’s more of a mic drop. Already downloaded the next book because I need to see where this goes. Currently a little frustrated but it’s not unbearable and it fits the circumstances for the people to behave how they do and serves the story. So I’ll deal and even mostly enjoy it. That said, I’m hoping it’s a duology, and if it’s more than a trilogy without the current plot lines being resolved and some new storyline’s brought in, I might change my opinion. I really enjoy our FMC, have mixed feelings (for pretty obvious reasons if you’ve finished the book too) about the Z’s, despise the queen which is a no-brainer from the first introduction but it gets layered with new levels at every interaction/reveal/hint of a clue after that, and absolutely called the flameguard’s story before she left the mud district. But it was nice to see that storyline completed and know I was right, and that means high five on the foreshadowing.
