I didn't expect to love this. Rhage and especially Mary aren't my favourite of the brothers and their mates. But this isn't just about Rhage. The side plots kept me hooked on this for sure. From Assail and his battle to keep away from Marisol, to Xcor and Layla...I'm still totally hooked and addicted to this series for sure.
reading this a second time before jumping to Chosen.
I enjoyed this one but it felt like there was too many stories being told and everything was all muddled together. I like that the story was about the core Brothers again mostly but I also want to know know about Marckus and what will happen to Assail and to Xcor.
Plus now there's been such a big change to the Brotherhood's whole world, where will things go now. Just a bit too much all at once I think stops this from being a 5 star book.

3.5 stars for Rhage's story with Mary, 3-ish stars for Layla and her story, the rest of the book I skimmed because I just wasn't really interested anymore.
Another great addition to the series. I enjoyed getting to revisit Rhage and Mary’s relationship and really liked the new characters that were introduced and the bit of a cliffhanger that was added.
so...I have read almost all of the bdb books (I think I missed one or two) and up to this point, even with the always-overused vernacular and the totally unrealistic characters, I have really enjoyed these books. I have gone through them swiftly and been mostly satisfied with their endings. This one was a little too slow for me, and I kept putting it aside in favor off other books. anyway - it's fine, but not my favorite bdb.

I could not love Rhage any more after this book! So his panic attacks were a little weird in the beginning, but I love what came of them. I think they will be amazing parents and hopefully we will continue to see more of Bitty growing up.
I didn’t like the whole Assail storyline in the beginning, but this book definitely changed my mind on him. Can’t wait for more on him and on Marckus.
Layla is still betraying those that love and protect her to the detriment of her twins. She is so selfish while pretending to be selfless. I can’t with her…ugh!!
All in all this book just made me feel good.

I am absolutely wrecked. Spent the last few days working around my reading for this one because you know it is the brotherhood and everything stops for them and J.R. Ward, even though she clearly hates us all and is trying to rip our hearts and souls apart.
Yes I am still shaken and upset over #spoiler# our beloved Chosen passing away last year.
This year's book was just as traumatising but with a mushy wonderful heart filling ending. (Still mad though)
You will fall in love with Rhage once again, and you will love Mary in a way that makes you want her as a bestie and a surrogate mommy all in one. They are the couple you want to be, and the couple that makes you think...YUP when things are meant to be you can work through anything. This one also teaches us that great love becomes even bigger and better when shared.
J.R. Ward writes about family. The kind you make for yourself, which more often than not is the kind that lasts beyond a lifetime. Another teary read for me, I will confess to actually crying out loud and shaking through some it, but Ward brought me back to happy tears and a beautiful Happily Ever After.
Loved this one and I continue to be in awe of this talented author :)
