(3.5) This was a really fun book and it just cemented my already held belief that Sarah Hogle is a really good writer! I will say, parts of this book felt a little too contrived to me and the speed at which things turn around is a little jarring (but conversely how long it took Naomi to realize she was being ridiculous was frustrating). If poor communication between lead characters bothers you, then this one will definitely bother you, but there was something about the way this book was written that made it charming to me and made me still really root for the main characters.
I'm not usually a big fan of "saving a marriage" story because thinking about how bad things can go in a relationship that was once good makes me feel like I can't breathe. But there is also something hopeful about two people fighting to get back to the love they once had for each other.

This has the most interesting premise - two people who are engaged fall out of love, then fall back in love again. While some of this drove me a little crazy - mainly because the main character has a lot of fire but she continually lets everyone else set the pace while she just stews.
The second half of the book was actually a lot better - and certainly made up for the first half. I loved the fact that there was very little physical relationship going on - it was all about them rediscovering why they first fell in love. The happy ending was well worth the journey.
I do think this would have benefitted from a second POV from Nicholas, even though we did get a good feel for his perspective. Taylor Meskimen handled the narration beautifully, and easily distinguished Nicholas' character both in pitch and emotion. Her voice acting was excellent.

This scared me at first, I didn’t trust that it knew where it was going and no one was very likable. But it’s well-handled and adorable, moreso for the ptsd flashback-inducing accuracy of the beginning. Satisfyingly original yet familiar :)
THIS WAS EVERYTHING I WAS LOOKING FOR IN A ROMANTIC COMEDY. I stayed up until five a.m until I finished it because I couldn't stop reading. And IT MADE ME LAUGH, which never happened to me. I love Naomi and Nicholas, their fights are awesome but how much they love each other is even more awesome.
I definitely need more of Sarah Hogle.
