the first half was awfully boring. but the second half... the second half was what i needed it to be. loved it.
and the author got better at writing women at that point so... even more to like!

would be five stars if yen and geralt had a single scene together

Great continuation of the adventures initiated previously and plenty of new ones, including new awesome characters. I love the way the stories are told and how the writing is intertwined.

I’m genuinely torn by this book.

The first half is a slog, so difficult to endure for its drawn-out descriptions of absolutely nothing happening that I almost quit reading. And can everyone give my favorite sassy bitch Dandelion a break, please?

But then I came to the second half, and I was so blown away by the dynamics of the ensemble cast that I became smitten with Milva and Regis and even Cahir. It is such a lovely fellowship of weirdos taking care of one another. It makes the slog worth it.

So yeah, this rounds up to four stars, and I guess I’m hooked for the next in the series.
