This book is hilarious and the moral is something else!

Despite this being very American English (Yam? Well it doesn't work as well with Sweet Potato!) I thought this one was one of the best books we picked up on our visit to the library. A Yam argues grammar with a dense Donkey - it's so much fun

So funny- the girls and I giggled the whole way through. Silly voices are a must. This would be a fun way to introduce the concept of verb conjugations to language learners.

This book is a fun way to teach basic grammar for “to be”. The style is reminiscent of a comic, with speech bubbles for the characters.

This hilarious book about a not bright donkey and a very talkative yam really makes you think about the way you talk. Does it make sense? Are you speaking clearly? As the donkey tries to understand, the yam gets more and more frustrated. Will donkey ever realize that "am" and "yam" are different words?

Just the right length - the gag was starting to run a little long, but then the end surprised me. Pretty funny book!

Fun for elementary students who have mastered basic grammar and need a protagonist who calls out the arbitrariness of the English language. Hilarity really ensues on the final page.

Teaches grammar in a very silly way, great for classrooms, although some may have issue with the dialect of the donkey.

My inner English teacher is conflicted by the moral that "If you is going to be eaten, good grammar don't matter," but this was just a super cute read.
