A stunning debut by Christian White, this fast-paced suspense kept me intrigued to the very end. Loved it!
This was good, and I enjoyed it a lot. However, I had already read The Wife and the Widow so I was a bit disappointed that this wasn't as good..

It took me just 3 days to devour this thanks to the fast-paced nature and lots of cliff-hangers that push you to read 'just one more chapter' on repeat. I don't normally like books that alternate between time periods, but this was done really well.

The story was an interesting one - a child disappears without a trace at the age of 2 in a town where everyone has a secret then what happens when the secrets start to come out ...
Going backward in time every other chapter did build the world but systematically gave the reader all the answers. The writing did keep you engaged with the story which made it a fast read, having trouble to put it down. The good debut for an Aussie author and cannot wait to read more of his writing.
