A little predictable but a good story.

I would give this book a 3.8 out of 5. The book does bounce back-and-forth from two different perspectives, and at first, I found reading in this style to be choppy. As I got about 35% in, I felt a change in the flow & the book Drew me in deeper. I wasn’t able to put it down after that. It reminded me of a more complicated multilayered The Notebook, with its own themes of conflict, love, loss, and resilience.
I would recommend to those who like reading war era, romance and family dynamics.
I think this novel would make a great film!

This historical fiction story takes us back and forth between WW2 and the 1980s. We follow an enchanted family of dressmakers who seem to be cursed as Soline shares her families history and we learn her own horrific life story. Alongside her we follow Rory who befriends Soline later in life and We watch as their lives intersect and mingle with one another as friends and perhaps a bit more.

It all ended too sweetly. Making it not believable. The magic theme felt like it was abandoned half way through the book.
