A quick read. Tragic in the lost love and with few words the emotion comes through easily. I could predict how the story would turn out but enjoyed reading it anyway despite how predictable it was. It’s one of those books that feels like a Hallmark movie - similar to a lot of stories in grandeur but enjoyable all the same. There’s a tender spot in my heart when it comes to WW2 so this is a book I’ll think about for a bit.

This book was a fun read. It was interesting to read from the two different timelines where neither was set recently. I feel like some elements, especially the magical realism, were forgotten about. This could have been the same exact book without the magical realism element to it. At about half way through the book it did become a bit predictable.
