The beginning felt hokey. I got into the book about 50 pages in and wanted to see where it went. The writing offers thoughtful, reflective nuggets about life choices, trauma, and relationships. The ending got hokey again (too many loose ends neatly tied up), but it was fulfilling and fun. I will likely check out Davis's The Last of the Moon Girls when I am looking for a reliably enjoyable story.

I originally found this book hard to get into. I got to the 70% mark and I was really still persevering but once I got to that hump the rest flowed.

While very predictable it was overall an ok read. I didn’t mind the authors writing style so I would totally give one of her other books a try to see if it was just the story that didn’t resonate with me.
