I would probably give this 4.75 stars because a a bit of predictably. BUT I loved the story and the characters so 5 it is!
I really wanted to like this book more, but it was so full of “coincidences” that I just couldn’t.

I really enjoyed the book - there are multiple interesting storylines and characters - but the ending felt rushed and almost out of sync with the rest of the book. It was as if the author had written up to chapter 36 or thereabouts and either put the work away for a while and picked it up when she was in a different frame of mind, or she had to rush to finish the book and so went with what feels like a cheat of an ending.
Or maybe it’s me. Anyway, I recommend the book. Lots of emotion, history, and un peu francais.

This book grabbed me from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down. Such a beautiful, moving story about hope, healing, forgiveness, and family. The story will forever leave an echo in my heart. ❤️

In true historical fiction fashion, started off a little slow but picked up about halfway through. The connections made my heart melt and ache throughout the whole story. I love how it was a full turnaround at the end. Great listen!
