Enjoyable read with a mix of the sadness of WW2 and loss, but also a happy ending.
Oh my HEART how I loved this book!!! I am so sad that it is over but so happy with the ending. This story sunk its teeth into me from the very beginning and it was full of twists, turns, highs, lows — all the components that make a beautiful story!

While some parts did feel slow or slightly repetitive, this book was a GORGEOUS historical fiction love/family/magic story. There was a part towards the end when I gasped out loud, so that’s usually a W for me!
Recommended for any lovers of history, happy endings, a little bit of magic, and a whole lot of faith :’-)

Captivating. Really loved the book. Only criticism is the ending. Felt rushed and honestly a little too “perfect”. Seems like the author really wanted to wrap everything up with a bow (reference intended), and we never got any details or depth to the homecoming of hux.
I’m not sure if I recommend the audio book. The heavy French accent for much of the book was difficult for me, and required heavy concentration to follow along. But, I do struggle with accents. It can also be slow in parts. But I really enjoyed it and would recommend it. It made my heart smile.
