About what I expected from a YA book. I definitely would have eaten this up as a preteen but as an “adult” or whatever I am now it kind of fell flat.

I absolutely love this book and this series. The way Stephanie Garber writes is pure poetry! The way she makes you see and feel this world is immersive and exciting and beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful

5/5 ⭐️

This story and world of Caraval is so unique! I see a lot of common themes in some fantasy books which is obviously going to happen, but Caraval felt so new and different from anything i’ve ever read

I was making up theory after theory and was honestly as confused as some of the players were. I couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t real myself! I was shocked the whole way through

This is one of those books that you can’t turn the page fast enough. I loved the secrets and the atmosphere of how your sins and secrets will cost you! The clues were so unique as well, i would’ve never figured them out myself

I wish Caraval was real so I could just watch or become a player!!

When I first started this book, it read to me as too simple. But, I pushed through my doubts because I wanted to finish it, and I am so thrilled I did! Not what I expected, Caraval was interesting, twisting, and riveting. I I literally read 80% of the book in one day, because it simply grabbed me and wouldn't let go.

Stephanie's descriptions are like the magic of Caraval itself: enchanting, practically dripping with magic. Well done indeed. Though the beginning seemed weak, by the end of the book, the characters and plot and development had reached their pinnacle.

I will admit, my motivation to delve into this book was rather low— despite the multitude of good reviews from close friends.

The first 75 or so pages were elongated and ever so slightly a nuisance to get through, which I admit albeit a little to my own embarrassment, as I have not seen many similar reviews related to the first 1/5 of the book.

After getting through the first obstacle, I could hardly put this book down for more than brief spurts of time. It is a very immersive book and very sensory-rich, something which was pleasant and quite enjoyable for me.

The plot twists that came one after  at the end had me so deeply immersed into the plot— forcing me to read the last 160 pages in the span of 3 hours.

I do— though this book was very delightfully, somewhat dislike the ending regarding the relationship between Julian and Scarlet, as I feel Scarlet recovered from the tremendous stress to rapidly for my taste. As well as forgiving Julian somewhat hurriedly,

In conclusion, I will recommend this book to anyone longing for a dark, mysterious, hunger games esk, captivating book with age appropriate romance:

I am ordering the next book soon!
