The Endless force Dream to right a wrong from 10000 years ago, when he condemned a woman he loved, Nada, to Hell. Lucifer abdicates to Dream, who now must decide what to do with the numerous factions fighting over control of Hell. Great to see more of the Endless. As usual, great art.
*3.5 out of 5*
I enjoyed this volume. It is not a collection of stories like the last one, but one story that continues with each new chapter. This volume is most like a novel out of the ones I’ve read so far. The story itself is not as interesting as those in other volumes, nor is it as graphic as other stories have been. But it’s still a very interesting plot.

I thought it was good when I was 14 and I still think it's pretty good now, which is a nice surprise.
fast-paced
In this volume we meet the siblings of Morpheus in a family meeting. Dream determines that he must return to Hell and free Nada from the 10,000 yr imprisonment he had banished her to for scorning him. He is not on good terms with Lucifer Morningstar. He says his tentative goodbyes to those he needs to, afraid he may not return. He arrives to meet Lucifer only to discover that he has resigned as King of Hell. (I have thoroughly enjoyed the TV show Lucifer, spin off of this plot line). Vying for the now-empty Hell, ripe for the taking, are many deities from all different walks of lore all around the world. Also all the demons who were cast out so that Lucifer could close the gates- they have Nada for trade. Everyone makes their case as to why he should give them the keys to an empty Hell. I approve of how it turns out and how he manages to get the things that he wants. I did not like this one as much as the first two either. I will carry on. No great quotes from this one.
-CW: talk of rape, imprisonment, ritual sacrifice of a child

Very captivating...couldn't put it down for my pathology lecture, I know nothing about potassium rates affecting blood compositions.......highly recommend
The pace picks back up after a volume of diverse one-shot comics set in the Sandman universe. In Season of Mists we have an engrossing, coherent arc that feels epic in scale, as Dream needs something from Lucifer and has to go to Hell to get it. I also really enjoyed the art this volume, and a couple of particular panels really grabbed my attention, particularly featuring Heaven's angels. Neil Gaiman really gets to share his love for various mythologies in this arc and it's truly delightful.
