This was an unexpectedly beautiful story. I loved it.
One of the best books I read this year. It reminded me of one of my favorite authors, Douglas Adams (how I miss him...). Even with the end being more Hollywood than Monty Python, it is a very good read.
"I sat back and absorbed the sky and tried not to understand anything at all. I sat there until it was night. Until distant suns and planets shone above me, like a giant advert for better living. On other more enlightened planets, there was peace and calm and logic that so often came with advanced intelligence. I wanted none of it, I realised.
...
What I wanted, in fact, was to go home. So, I stood up. It was only a short walk away."
I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. I picked it up on a whim whilst at the library the other day; I was waiting for my grandma to pick a book for herself and I sat down and the spine of this book caught my eye so I decided to give it a go. I'm not normally a fan of adult fiction so I was dubious, but this was definitely one of the greatest books I've ever read.

(4.5) This is definitely my favorite Matt Haig novel so far. It's funny and clever and also well executed, more so than his later novels, and it's got depth and heart and it really makes us think about being human. The relationships in the story are painful and beautiful and nothing seemed overdone to me.
I loved the commentary on dogs, meat/carnivores, and the news. I ignored/hated the titled chapters.

Is nice and short. But as a sci fi reader I wanted to like it more. I think this is more for people who read more realistically books and want to dip their toes into this type of genre

An interesting concept and valiant effort into the complexities of human emotion. However, all the characters were flat and the story was very bland and predictable. Had high hopes but was very disappointed. At least I finished it?
