Mně se doopravdy knihy od Neala S. moc líbí. Hlavně tím, jak se můžou v budoucnu splnit. To se týká jak Smrtky tak i Sucha. Člověka to nutí přemýšlet.

Sucho mě nechytlo tolik jako Smrtka. Něco tomu chybělo. Možná právě to, co předcházelo Bezvodí a pak jak je možné, že na konci voda zase začala téct? To mi děj trošku zkazilo... Smrtka mi v tomhle přijde daleko propracovanější.

I tak se tu děj odehrával z pohledu více osob. Což mi tolik nevadilo, protože člověk aspoň mohl sledovat jak se se situací vyrovnávají různí lidé. Ale tu hlavní dějovou linii držela pořád Alyssa její mladší bratr a soused Kelton.

Kelton je z rodiny, která se na Bezvodí velice dobře připravila. Takže je jejich dům následně okupován několika desítkami sousedů, pro pár lahví vody. To se zvrtne ke střelbě a tak Kelton odchází z domu a společně s Alyssou a Gerettem se vydávají na cestu do jejich bunkru v horách.

Myslela jsem, že až najdou bunkr, děj skončí a s nimi to dopadne dobře.. no, ale to jsem se spletla. Protože se cestou musejí vypořádat se spoustou překážek. Zlí muži, dehydratace a nakonec spousta požárů, co kvůli Bezvodí vznikla. A dokonce jeden z požárů málem ukončil jejich životy..

Makes me think through running out of water, scary. I always had a glass of water next to me when reading. Gives a snapshot of the chaos and what people would do to survive.

I knew what this book was about going into it, however, it did not prepare me for the reality of it. There were times that I laughed, a couple of times I cried, I found myself having actual fight or flight responses while reading, and even a panic attack or two. In the end, it comes down to the question, What wouldn’t you do to save your own life, or the life of someone you cared about? This was a great book, and I feel like what made it so good is that it’s entirely plausible. That is one of the things Neal Shusterman does so well. He writes about things that are so entirely in the realm of possibility that it freaks you out. Well played Mr. Shusterman....well played.
