A quick little delight. Nothing too serious or profound, but very sweet, and made me nostalgic for New York as much as London.

What an absolutely charming little novella! Wholesome and beautiful and achingly sweet and real. Highly highly recommend

An epistolary non-ficition that is like a novel in many ways. Charming and immersive, this story tells of a friendship that builds between an American woman, Helene, and an an ique bookshop in London.
The second part of the book, The Duchess of Bloomsbury tells of when Helene finally makes it to London. She meets so many different people, and gets to explore 'the only city she has ever wanted to visit'.

This book was recommended to me by my aunt when I was a teenager. I must have read it at least three times since. It's just charming. It's just a nice, relaxed story. No horrible-ness, no triggers for me, just a pleasant, cosy read. Enjoy!

Not a bad book at all, more 3.5 stars. This is a quick read over platonic friendship between a NY writer and British booksellers. Made me want to write a letter to all the book stores I love.

Absolutely delightful read. And even better full cast narrated audiobook which brings out the tone of this letter collection perfectly. It gave me so much joy throughout, learning about the lives of these almost strangers just connected through their love of books, but the ending did leave me feeling sad and empty. Very heartwarming read overall though.
