Lord above did this book wreck me in the best way. I love books that confront death and the end of life with a deep examination of love and all that our expansive lives offer to us. I love rom-coms about dying and feeling and honoring those who have loved you well. I wept - WEPT - through the last 25% of this book, and I wish I could immediately read it for the first time again. This book forced my feeling-repressed heart to FEEL, deeply, truly, and unashamedly. This book is immediately up at the top of some of the best stories I’ve ever read. If you loved The Guncle or One Italian Summer or In Five Years, then this is a book you’ll devour.
