This book was a little confusing for me. I assumed it was a "cat and mouse" romantic relationship between two serial killers. The back of the book description and the first third of the story certainly leads you to believe that. Then, the story shifts. For a few chapters I was uncertain and maybe the plot was little different than I first thought. The final third you see it is actually quite a different story. There is a lot going on in this book. Odd and quirky characters. Most of them are not what you initially believe them to be. I'd give this book 3.5 stars.  It was engaging and a good read but not great.

I liked the plot and the way the characters (mostly) never responded as expected so i didn't have to sit through the same tired tropes. I was occasionally taken out of the story with a couple of suddenly cringe interactions. But overall an entertaining read

This was just too weird for me. I’m not sure who here really is a serial killer, but it’s a “no” for me.

Thank you to Berkley for the eARC.

Serial Killer Games is hard to describe. It’s a bit of a thriller, bit of a romance, bit of a emotional coming-of-age/acceptance kind of novel.

It’s just different, quirky, and weird.

All that being said, I couldn’t stop reading. I just needed to know what would happen. Was Jake really the serial killer Dolores suspects him to be? Why was Dodi (aka Dolores) so hostile? Is the serial killer podcast she listens to real and can I download it?

It feels weird to say how heartwarming this book is…this book called Serial Killer Games. And yet, there’s a found family feel that is undeniable.

A strange and wonderful read.
