This gave me such Craft vibes! It follows a group of Changelings reckoning with their new powers and how to use them. My main issues with this were pacing and the ending. Much of the story was art without words, which can certainly work at times, but at others, I had to reread pages trying to figure out how we got from one point to the next. The story also escalates super quickly and there was overall just a lot happening and then it ends suddenly. I think I would have preferred this to be longer so that the story could be drawn out longer and not feel so rushed. It's a solid creepy read for Halloween, though, and the art is fun, so overall I'd still recommend it!

This was a really fun graphic novel. It was fast paced, which was fine by me, and the story was a fun take on fairies.

Alexa leaves Chicago and moves in with her grandfather after her parents are sent to jail. With social media being a character certificate, Alexa finds that her new school is not going to warm up to her. But then she finds Fae, Chloe and Skye. This group of social misfits then discover about their past, which will change their present drastically.

Graphic novels are always fun to read, with the illustrations and a quick pace, it often acts as a remedy to get out of a reading slump. But there is so much that could go hit and miss with the graphic novels. Already so little words make it to the book, and the one that are included if cannot give a strong framework to the story, no matter how illustrative the illustrations are, it will still be incoherent. That's what I felt in this book as well. The scenes are so abrupt and disjointed, that it never lets the anticipation build up. One scene jumps to another, with very little relevance from each other.

I did feel that the theme of the book was quite interesting, with its folklore and mythology trope, but the "nightmare" never turned into a nightmare actually!

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the free e-book.

Alexa moves in with her grandpa in Savannah after her parents are arrested for nonviolent offenses. Her google-able past makes her an instant target for the school bullies, but she also finds some friends a group of three girls: Chloe, Skye, and Fae. The four blow off some steam after school one day with a drunken bonfire in the forest, and they come back with more than they bargained for. All four start exhibiting signs that they've delved into the Fae world and are slowly transforming into fairies. To make it worse, Alexa's grandpa starts dating a woman who also seems like she has fairy magic, and she's not leaving Alexa's family and friends alone until she restores a powerful fairy to the Fae world - someone she feels is in Alexa's friend group.

I really didn’t like the art style but I thought heck why not try the story. I stuck with it until the middle where things got real confusing. I didn’t care for any of the characters because it didn’t go deep into them. It didn’t take too long to read but I feel as if my time could have been spent better reading something else.

A cool story idea, liked the ending, but it wasn't a fave for me. Super fast paced, wish there was a little more building for some parts
