Things I liked:
  • The banter and jokes
  • The honest self-reflection on past relationships
  • The fake dating tropes
  • The balance of daily struggles and looking on the bright side
  • How demanding and forthright Hayes was
  • The spicy scenes

Things I wasn't so keen on:
  • I'm not sure I really felt the spark until way later, when we were supposed to feel it all along? Even with all the banter, the only thing she seemed to like about Hayes was his attractiveness
  • Tali apparently being a ridiculously hot 10/10, but being completely unaware the whole book
  • The awful book paralleling her situation

I laughed so hard that I cried a few times.
Tali is one of the best sassy bitter mouthy FMC. She is hilarious and gives as good as one gets.
Hayes is that icy distant guy who absolutely needs to be kicked.
Perfect combination.

My only regret is:
What about the beach house??? Because I would have love that they ended there 😍

Wow I could not put this book down! I really really enjoyed this one, it was a perfect mix of emotion/vulnerability, pining/lust, and banter. *Chef’s kiss* to this boss assistant romance!! Tali and Hayes have a great dynamic, one that I loved seeing develop into a friendship and more over time. I love when the MMC is head over heels and wants to do anything and everything for the FMC and Hayes definitely delivers even if it is a little under wraps. I think Tali and Hayes’s respective baggage and histories were very realistic particularly how they served as barriers to them committing. The third act breakup definitely had me in my feelings which made the grand gesture all the more rewarding. I absolutely recommend this book and am excited to continue on in the series!

It had some good scenes in it that made this not entirely the standard grumpy boss romance book(e.g. one scene that stands out for me is
when he begs for her to let him eat her out.
)

But this is not a realistic love story...bc how love interest acts at the beginning would definitely be harassment at the work place and his behavior is not cute or edgy but he behaves like a douche, even if it was "just pretend" I did not so much enjoy the beginning, I just did not think it worked perfectly for this story, but the rest I did enjoy.

Spice quantity and quality: 2/5 (the only outstanding part is the thing in the spoiler the rest is okay, little bit boring and not that much)
