This was such a slog to get through. Something about these try hard ultra quirky novels just don’t hit for me. Probably because none of these people will ever be vonnegut despite their desperation

There are not too many things as wild as a Tom Robbins book. In this one the focus is on redheads and pyramids.

Tom Robbins at his best. i cannot write a review for this because dearest Tom doesn't fit into anyone else's pigeon hole. Just read and and laugh and enjoy.

Reread in December 2012. I probably like this book more than my friends because I'm a redheaded aries gal raised on fantasy, weaned off of do-good liberalism into joyful outlaw... ism... basically a mashup of the two heroes of this story. It's also a rare instance of me completely suspending disbelief and accepting a fairy-tale at face value, with all of Robbins' hippie-dippy metaphors and frustrating devices somehow rendering just this one book *more* charming. A truly *personal* favorite, not five stars for the best ever, but five for ruling a big chunk of my heart. Permanently set there now because it was read aloud to me the 2nd time around. :)
